The largest rice producers are China and India.

During the last 20 years there was a steady increase of rice production in South America (mainly Brazil =11 Mill. t) and Africa (mainly Egypt = 5.9, Madagascar = 4 and Nigeria = 4.8 Mill.t) (Data 2012).
